ALEKS Up!


WHO?

If you are an incoming student who:

  • Took the ALEKS proctored assessment and scored below 80
  • Wants to improve your ALEKS score to have a chance to place into your desired math course

WHAT?

The ALEKS Up! program provides access to online and in-person tutoring sessions hosted by the Student Success Center designed to assist students with improving their ALEKS Math Placement score. These sessions focus on refreshing math fundamentals to help increase your ALEKS math placement score.

Program Dates & Tutoring Hours:

You will need your ALEKS Learning modules for online and in-person tutoring.

*If you are coming in-person please bring your laptop to access your ALEKS Learning Modules. You will also need your comet card to get through the library gates.

You can visit more than once per day. For example, check in with your tutor, work on a module, and come back to review your performance together.  You are welcome to attend more than one tutoring session. Please see the tier requirements below. 


WHY?

Students who complete the requirements in the table below will:

  • Receive a free ALEKS proctored assessment retake
  • Have a chance to earn a higher proctored ALEKS score to place into Calculus, or other math courses
  • Freshen up on important math concepts to prepare for fall courses
  • Meet peers and staff before classes begin

Choose your Path:

*Students must be enrolled in a participating PLTL math course for Fall 2025 to earn priority placement into PLTL. For a list of participating math courses, please refer to the PLTL website here: https://studentsuccess.utdallas.edu/programs/peer-led-team-learning/

HOW?

To Participate:

  1. Visit the ALEKS Up! Website
  2. Decide which tier you want to complete (See the table below for what is required and what you can earn)
  3. Attend the required number of sessions based on your tier and book tutoring appointments online or in-person
  4. Complete the ALEKS Learning Modules.
  5. Retest as needed.
