Academic Success Coaching
Need to improve your study habits?
Meet with an Academic Success Coach!
Academic Success Coaching is the one-on-one process of helping students devise a personalized approach to studying. This program serves as a general resource, where students can receive help with various school-related topics such as:
- Time management
- Prioritizing assignments/tasks
- Effective study strategies
- Note taking strategies
- Goal setting
- Study environment tips
- Test taking tips
Academic Success Coaching offers in-person appointments for currently enrolled undergraduate students. If you would like to partner with an Academic Success Coach to discuss any of the ASC topics, please visit Accudemia to schedule an appointment today!
Please note: If you are seeking academic support and are not sure where to start, a good place to visit is the Student Success Center. We will be happy to help you or refer you to the many campus resources that are here to support you in your academic journey.
Disclaimer
Academic Success Coaching is a collaborative partnership that helps teach students how to develop learning strategies, establish healthy study habits, cultivate self-advocacy, and build a campus support system. It is important to note that Academic Success Coaching is not academic advising, personal counseling, or one-on-one tutoring for a particular course. Our Peer Leaders are not able to address serious topics that go beyond academics and will refer you to other campus resources if your needs exceed Academic Success Coaching.

FAQ
What will I need for my session?
Please be prepared with specific questions and areas of concern. Your Peer Leader will want to know what is currently working for you and what areas you are struggling with.
What should I expect from my session?
You and your Peer Leader will introduce yourselves, talk a bit about why you came, and then you will work together to develop an action plan during your scheduled session.
Does the Peer Leader do the work for me (writing my notes, updating my schedule, etc.)?
No. Peer Leaders in Academic Success Coaching are accountability partners that help share proven methods as a way to help you find what systems work for you. Every student’s method of learning is personal and Peer Leaders will help you find one that works best, then adjust it to your needs.
Best advice for coming to ASC?
Come as often as you can! Accountability means following through on the plans you set. Repeated sessions will help the Peer Leaders find the right strategies for your needs and also find the best ways to implement them into your academic life. We recommend a check-in once per week or every two weeks to make sure you are on track during the semester.
I need help studying for a test tomorrow, can you help?
We can certainly try, but ASC works best when it is a long-term partnership rather than a quick meeting. Our Peer Leaders can help you prepare strategies you can start right away and continue through to your next test.
